The Latin American Cultural Union is pleased to open our 2008 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration with a new concert that we hope will become a favorite in Pittsburgh. The concert is called Fusión and will bring to Pittsburgh each year a folkloric Latino musician who exemplifies the fusion of cultures that make Latinos an intricate "mestizaje" of cultures. For 2008, the selected artist is David Haro.
DAVID HARO
Born in Jáltipan in Veracruz, Mexico, David Haro is a prolific
composer and authentic modern troubadour whose music expresses
the rich folkloric tradition of the El Sotavento region of Veracruz,
where music, poetry, and dance are a part of everyday life.
As with the European troubadours of old, who together with dancers
traveled from place to place singing their poetry, this modern
troubadour brings us news and reflections from his homeland, along
with always-welcome songs of love and hope.
Performance will be in Spanish with English Interpretation by Cathy Bazán-Arias.

Nacido en Jáltipan en Veracrus, Mexico, David Haro es un compositor prolífico y un autentico trobador moderno cuya música expresa la rica tradición folklórica de la region del Sotavento en Veracruz dónde la música, la danza y la poesía son parte del diario vivir.
Como lo hicieron los trobadores del ayer que viajaban por Europa junto con sus bailarines cantando sus poesias, este trobador moderno nos deleitara con los cuentos y reflecciones de su tierra, junto con las siempre bien recibidas composiciones sobre el amor y la esperanza.
